The Philosateleian Post was founded in late 2002 (Stamp Year 163) shortly after the first settlers from Earth landed on Philosateleia. In its early stages, Philosateleian Post employees were primarily responsible for shuttling mail and small packages between Philatelic City and the outlying posts around the subcontinent of Philatelis. The agency has grown along with the rest of Philosateleian civilization, however, and now serves all inhabited areas of the satellite.
A major milestone in the history of the Philosateleian Post came in early 2004 (SY164) when the first Philosateleian stamps were issued. They are used on all mail originating on Philosateleia, whether global or interglobal, and also on the majority of letters mailed from the Philosateleian Embassy on Earth. The Philosateleian postmark is featured prominently on the globe's flag.
Philatelius, the Postmaster General, oversees all operations of the Philosateleian Post. The Postmaster General is also the head of the Philosateleian Government.
